RYA Essential Navigation and Seamanship provides an introduction to the basic skills required before taking a small boat to sea or taking an active part in running a boat. Although knowledge of the subjects covered is not a requirement for the practical Competent Crew course, this is the theory course that complements this level.
Subjects include a basic introduction to charts, buoyage, navigation, safety, tides, weather forecasts, pilotage and passage planning.
